Psych research on why certain people (local foodies) buy local/green or not — found some surprising results
Attitudes of nutrition, health, energy conservation, and farmers receiving adequate prices have no significant effect on the probability of buying local. While they might be cited as reasons to buy, these attitudes don’t appear to affect actual behavior.
Instead, people are more likely to buy local food if their behavior relates to food knowledge (start gardening people!) and food venues (shopping at a health food store)

(bytheway, I am completly for the stop LRA movement, however I disapprove of the way it has become an ad campaign that focuses more on an organization and giving someone evil a celebrity status rather than giving victims the capability and resources to overcome this themselves. As others point out, more children are still dying from lack of bednetting to prevent malaria than being kidnapped by the LRA. THAT is something that we can give real help towards)
